About Us

Penelope Events & Design is a boutique creative studio, focusing on event planning, experience design, and curation & styling for home interiors.

We are passionate about creating timeless and memorable events & experiences that tell your unique story, with help from the thoughtfully curated details that truly bring your event to life.

We love events. We love weddings. And we truly love the art of hosting and the joy that comes from bringing friends and family together to celebrate all of life's milestones (both big and small).

That said, we also really love being at home (yes, at times alone!) in the spaces we’ve created there. After all, our home is our safe, cozy space —  brought to life with a collection of curated items we’ve gathered through the years.

We adore sourcing antiques and appreciate how they have the ability to bring a touch of charm to your event design, tablescape, and of course, your home.

CATHERINE MELLINGER

Owner, Designer & Planner

With a background in event marketing & experience design, Catherine brings her unique perspective and eye for design to every project she works on. Previously working on events including product launch parties to large-scale brand experiences at music festivals to nation-wide experiential programming, she has developed a deep understanding of the importance of tailoring experiences to not only meet client requests, but also to ensure each brand comes to life within their own identity.

Growing up, she helped her mother prepare for countless holiday parties and family gatherings – setting up serving dishes, polishing silverware and ironing linen napkins. At this younger age, she often made fun of her mother for going out of her way to make ‘the perfect event’, going as far to label platters the night before with what food item was to be put in it the next day, only to find herself in her adult years doing this for parties of her own. She didn’t know it at the time, but this contributed to her love of bringing people together and laid the foundation for her attention to detail, making each event she hosts seem effortlessly chic.

On the weekend you will find her at the farmers market buying flowers or sourcing antiques with an iced coffee in one hand and her daughter in the other. She resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her husband Dylan and daughter, Penelope.
